Resumen

El objetivo de esta investigación fue identificar los principales determinantes de salud que afectaban a los adultos mayores en Manabí, con especial atención en las enfermedades crónicas, la calidad de vida y los factores socioeconómicos. Los resultados evidencian altos niveles de estrés, ansiedad y depresión, agravados por el consumo excesivo de alcohol y tabaco. A esto se suma un patrón de sueño insuficiente, lo que repercute negativamente en su bienestar general. En el ámbito nutricional, su dieta, basada mayormente en carbohidratos, refleja limitaciones económicas y acceso restringido a alimentos frescos, generando posibles desequilibrios nutricionales. Aunque algunos manifiestan satisfacción con los servicios de salud, una proporción significativa considera que la atención no cubre sus necesidades, indicando deficiencias en recursos e infraestructura. Estas problemáticas destacan la necesidad de implementar políticas integrales que promuevan el bienestar de este grupo vulnerable, abordando aspectos emocionales, conductuales, sociales y económicos para garantizar su calidad de vida y respeto a sus derechos.
